Top Boat

Heres an absolute beauty, yacht Actea. Built by the Henry B. Nevins yard and launched in 1938, she was designed and built for Henry Sears, former commodore of the New York Yacht Club and marine biologist. The boat was requisitioned by the U.S. Navy during World War II.

After the war the boat was returned to Sears but was sold to Henry S. Morgan, grandson of J. P. Morgan and one of the founders of Morgan Stanley. Morgan would rename her Djinn. Morgan would also become commodore of the New York Yacht Club.

The boat was eventually sold and brought to California where she had a successful racing career. Unfortunately the final resting place for this fine boat was on a reef.
